SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Giants fans are still celebrating Wednesday night's 8-0 victory over the Pirates in the National League wild-card game.

The victory means Bay Area baseball will continue in October.

Forget champagne -- after Giants pitchers Madison Bumgarner shut out the Pirates, he cracked open four beers in the locker room and drank them all at once.

Back in San Francisco, thousands of Giants fans watched the game at AT&T Park on the big screen.

They cheered big in the fourth inning when Brandon Crawford became the first shortstop ever to hit a grand slam in the playoffs.

"We've had a lot of ups and downs this year, but you know we got here. That was the goal of spring training, to get to the playoffs. We've still got some work to do against a good Washington team," Crawford said.

The Giants are already in Washington, D.C. They take on the Nationals in the division series starting Friday at 12:07 p.m.

The Giants first home game is scheduled for Monday. That will be game three in the five-game series.
