Golden State Warriors and fans celebrate NBA championship

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Warriors flew back home as NBA champions Wednesday morning after closing out the Cavaliers in Cleveland. The team will celebrate with a victory parade in Oakland on Friday.[br /][br /][facebook URL="https://www.facebook.com/abc7news/videos/10153422210717079/?permPage=1" /][br /][br /]Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala each scored 25 points in the deciding Game 6. The Warriors defense stifled the Cavs at times, and withstood several Cavs runs in the fourth quarter beating Cleveland 105-97.[br /][br /]After the game, Iguodala was named the series MVP -- becoming the first player to win the award without starting every game in the Finals. The team hoisted the Larry O'Brien trophy for the first time in 40 years. Our fans, oh my god, it's beautiful," said Iguodala.[br /][br /]"This is what it is man, we built that. The cool thing is we keep playing. We're going to enjoy this all summer, even the next year, but we want to get another one. The Warriors finished with 83 wins, the third highest single season total in NBA history. Steve Kerr became only the third head coach to win the NBA title in his first year.[br /][br /]After the game, fans poured into the streets of Oakland. They were well behaved for the most part although a few climbed on top of an AC Transit bus at 14th and Broadway. Others tagged the word Warriors on the pavement at Telegraph and 15th. The crowd blocked traffic at 24th and Missions streets for a while. One person hopped on the back of a limo bus for a minute, but the crowd pretty much behaved themselves. Police were standing by but made no arrests.[br /][br /]A popular spot for fans will be at Bay Area Sports Authority and Dick's Sporting Goods stores. Both chains are opening several Bay Area locations early on Wednesday. Tuesday night at the Foster City Sports Authority fans lined up immediately after the game to get caps and t-shirts.
