NFL star stuns gymnast girlfriend with surprise wedding proposal
One Seattle Seahawks wide receiver made a big romantic play when he proposed to his gymnast girlfriend following a meet on Friday night.
Kevin Norwood, wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks and Alabama alum, has been dating collegiate gymnast Kayla Williams for three years. After Williams' gymnastics meet on Friday, Norwood was posing for pictures with the gymnast. That was where Norwood got on one knee and popped Williams the question.
"He's more private," Williams told Al.com. "So for him to do that in front of that many people was a surprise to me. That's not how I expected it to happen."
Norwood was able to pull off the proposal with the help of Dana Duckworth, University of Alabama gymnast coach.
"I really thought a lot of (fans) were going to be pretty much walking out and leaving," Norwood told AL.com. "When coach Dana and me were thinking about this, we were thinking of it being more her teammates, my family and her family down there, and we were just going to do it like that. But I guess a lot of people stayed and stuck out around and saw us."
Williams posted the following photo to Instagram, thanking family, friends and her fans for their support.
