ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ole Miss starting cornerback Ken Webster was carted off the field with a left knee injuryearly in the first quarter of the team's 45-34 loss to Florida Stateon Monday.

Webster was injured when he appeared to land awkwardly on a deep pass play on the Seminoles' opening drive. When the cart came on the field to take him off, he was greeted by teammates.

The Rebels also lost running back Eric Swinney, who left the game in the second quarter because of a left knee injury suffered on his first carry of the game.

"You hate that part of the game," Rebels coach Hugh Freeze said. "And neither injury looked good. I haven't heard the final, but it didn't -- neither one looked good."

Webster started every game at cornerback last season and tied for third on the team with 12 passes defended. He had 41 tackles, three tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups and an interception.

Both Webster and Swinney took to Twitter after the game to express thanks for the well wishes.

Ole Miss already was short on running backs, with Jordan Wilkinssuspended for the season because of academics.
