Opposing teams concerned about setting foot on Levi's turf
While San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula says he's not worried about the turf troubles other teams are expressing their concern.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- The NFL season hasn't even started and we're seeing turf trouble once again at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Opposing teams are expressing their concern about playing there because the loose sod could be unsafe and lead to injuries.

Regardless, the owners of Levi's Stadium expect to make full use of the stadium by packing it with concerts and NFL games, one after another. It appears replacing sod is the cost of doing business at Levi's and hopefully it sticks.

Taylor Swift's two concerts shook the grass right out of the dirt at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

Now as the San Francisco 49ers banners go up the Dallas Cowboys are questioning whether new turf will stay down.

49ers head coach Jim Tomsula addressed the concerns. He said, "Honestly, I don't know the first thing about grass. Every day, I walk onto fields that are perfect and I have no reason to question him or anything about the grass. I'm very confident."

However, fans and sports bloggers are more skeptical. David Fucillo from Niners Nation said, "It's a $1.3 billion stadium, but apparently $1.3 billion does not go as far as it used to."

Money can buy you a nice home, but the lawn is extra and for some reason it just doesn't stick at Levi's.

"So they had their first practice a couple of weeks ago, they had fans in attendance and they had to go to almost a half-speed because the turf was coming out of the ground," Fucillo explained.

Stadium management says the install went well and they expect a great playing surface for Sunday, while nearby restaurants expect business to triple.

"We're only a mile from the park which is really phenomenal. People love that walk to the stadium," Bennigan's general manager Giacomo Stoltz said.

"It's going to be an unpredictable season," Fucillo said.

Turf may be the least of the challenges facing the Faithful, there's a new coach and a drastically different roster this season.
