Philadelphia Union down New York Red Bulls, Wondolowski scores 100th goal

HARRISON, N.J. -- Vincent Nogueira and C.J. Sapong scored a quick pair of second-half goals and the Philadelphia Union beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Sunday for their second straight victory.

Nogueira opened the scoring in the 57th minute, tapping in Cristian Maidana's 20-yard strike with a back-heel flick from just outside the 6-yard box. Sapong stunned the Red Bulls with another goal 5 minutes later. Fabinho's run from midfield led the counterattack and Maidana earned his second assist of the match with a pass back to set up Fabinho's layoff to Sapong.

The Union earned their first road win in seven tries against the Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls squandered a dominant first half with three shots crashing off the post. It was New York's second scoreless game in a row after a nine-game run to start the season with at least one goal.

Meanwhile in Santa Clara, Chris Wondolowski became the ninth MLS player to reach 100 goals, helping the San Jose Earthquakes salvage a 1-1 draw with 10-man Orlando City.

Wondoloski scored on a penalty kick in the 68th minute, tying it for the Earthquakes. He placed it confidently to the left corner after catching his former teammate, goalkeeper Tally Hall, guessing the wrong way. Wondolowski pumped his fist enthusiastically and raced the ball back to kickoff, hardly stopping to celebrate with his teammates.

Brek Shea was sent off with a straight red card for a studs-up challenge in the 51st minute. But Orlando City took the lead when Cyle Larin drew a foul inside the edge of the 18-yard box and Kaka smashed home the penalty kick for his fifth goal of the season.
