OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Oakland Raiders are accused of defying the National Football League by not adding special gold paint to its field in honor of Super Bowl 50.

As every other NFL team stepped up to the line for the league and painted gold 50s on their fields to celebrate Super Bowl 50, the Raiders have not.

The organization has not released a statement explaining why the Raiders have not added the gold paint to the field.

"Yeah that's not part of my decision making, so I know we're silver and black, I know that," Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said.

The general manager of the coliseum has been quoted as saying: "The Raiders did not want the gold 50s painted and it had nothing to do with sharing a facility with the Oakland Athletics."

But Wednesday afternoon, Raiders owner Mark Davis told news outlets they will paint the 50-yard lines gold after the baseball season. "Nobody respects the Super Bowl more than the Raiders," he said.

The delayed response remains unclear, but fans sure liked the idea of sending a message to the NFL. "The little white angel says it's not good and the little black angle says go for it be a disturber, that's a Raider," Lorene Eggett said.
