The Oakland Raiders plan to have second-year quarterback Derek Carr throw some during their mandatory three-day minicamp, which starts Tuesday, according to an NFL source.

Carr has been dealing with an injury on his ring finger on his throwing hand for the past several weeks.

On Tuesday, he threw a couple of short tosses at the start of practice but did not throw during the session that was open to the media. Carr did not throw at all during an open session May 26.

The Raiders have no long-term worries about Carr, and he will be completely ready to run the entire offense when training camp starts late next month, coach Jack Del Rio said.

Although it's important for Carr to do some throwing this week, there has not been any worry about his absence putting him behind. Carr, the No. 36 overall pick in the 2014 draft, was the only rookie quarterback to start all 16 games last season.

"He knows this offense almost as well as the offensive coordinator," left tackle Donald Penn said last week. "He is still the first one here in the morning. He's doing what he needs to do. We have to win games now. There's no rush."
