Captain Roman Shirokov made the cut despite missing both of his country's previous warm-up games with an Achilles tendon injury.

He is one of five players from the squad that reached the Euro 2008 semifinals, along with goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, winger Yuri Zhirkov and the centre-back pairing of Sergei Ignashevich and Vasili Berezutskiy.

Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg lead the way, contributing six players each, while Russian champions CSKA Moscow provide five to Capello's squad.

Reading striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is among seven players dropped from the provisional squad. He was the only player in the original selection to ply his trade outside of Russia.

The other players who also failed to make the cut were defenders Alexander Anyukov and Alexey Berezutskiy, midfielders Vladimir Bystrov, Yury Gazinskiy and Pavel Mogilevets, and forward Artem Dzyuba. Rubin Kazan midfielder Mogilevets will travel with the squad to Brazil on standby.

Russia face South Korea, Belgium and Algeria in Group H at the World Cup.
