Stephen Curry says elbow is fine despite swelling; might get it drained

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Stephen Curry's grotesquely swollen right elbow isn't of significant concern to the Golden State Warriors.

"The elbow's fine," Curry said after Wednesday's series-tying 118-91 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals. "It looks like it has a tennis ball on top of it, but it doesn't affect range of motion or anything. There's just some pain, so I'll be all right."

Curry landed on the elbow, hitting it on a metal platform, after he soared over the first row of seats while trying to save a loose ball in the first quarter. That caused a large knot to develop, and Curry said the elbow got hit repeatedly later in the game.

He certainly didn't seem too bothered by it Wednesday. He scored a team-high 28 points, including 17 in less than 5 minutes during the third quarter.

Curry, who wore a white wrap on the elbow during his postgame news conference, said he might have to get the elbow drained if the swelling doesn't subside over the next two days. Game 3 is Sunday night in Oklahoma City.

"It's something I'll just pay attention to the next 48 hours until we leave for OKC and the swelling goes down," he said. "I should be all right. I think that's kind of not as invasive a procedure, if necessary. Either way, I'll be fine."

Warriors coach Steve Kerr laughed when asked whether he was concerned about Curry's injured elbow.

"I did not even notice the knot on his elbow," Kerr said, "so I have no concern over it."
