Team USA to face Germany in crucial game
Team USA will square off against Germany at 9 a.m. PT with a chance to rebound from Sunday's gut wrenching tie.

BRAZIL (KGO) -- Team USA is squaring off against Germany with a chance to rebound from Sunday's gut wrenching tie. The game will give the U.S. an opportunity to advance to the knockout round of the World Cup.

The United States is second in Group G and the excitement around the World Cup shows just how much Americans love big events.

All of this is especially good for Team USA Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann. He was born in Germany and will face a country in which he scored 11 goals at three World Cups, winning the 1990 title. In fact he will become the second coach in World Cup history to coach against a team for which he won a World Cup title as a player. Klinsmann even posted an online note for people to give to their bosses. It asked managers to excuse staff to watch the game for the good of the nation.

Team USA said they plan to leave it all on the field.

"We are not made for going to a game to go for a tie. That is just not in our DNA," said Klinsmann.

Win or draw today against Germany and Team USA will move on into the knockout round. If the U.S. team loses, then it will get more complicated and their future will depend on the Ghana vs. Portugal game.
