With football season about to start and baseball playoffs just a month away, it's a great time of year to be a sports fan. But while many cities across the U.S. boast a strong fandom for their hometown athletics, there are a select few cities whose residents are truly Hall of Fame-worthy fans.

Wallethub released their list of 2015's best and worst cities for sports fans. The findings for the list were based off cities with the highest amount of respondents across the U.S. who claimed to follow football, basketball, baseball, hockey and/or soccer.

Boston ranked first on the list unsurprisingly, with the New England city boasting strong fan bases for its championship-worthy sports teams. Denver placed second, much owed to renewed interest in Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos franchise in the past few years.

The only non-major cities to crack the top 10 were East Lansing and Ann Arbor, Mich. These cities are home to Michigan State University and the University of Michigan respectively, two schools with wildly popular football and basketball programs.
