Thousands expected for Oakland's big running festival

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland's big running festival started Sunday morning. The marathon takes runners from downtown to the Oakland hills.

It started at 7:30 a.m. at Snow Park on 19th and Harrison streets on the west side of Lake Merritt. There's also a half marathon.

You can expect road closures all morning. Bands and DJs will be along the race course as well as 12 cheer stations.

Several streets will be closed during Oakland Running Festival in Oakland, Calif. on March 22, 2015.
