SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- San Francisco 49ers officials unveiled the grass field at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The Bandera Bermuda grass was grown in the Central Valley.

Team officials say the grass needs less water than average turf, it stays green longer and can help players avoid injury.

A crew of 10 began installing a total of 106,325 square feet of the grass last Thursday.

The 49ers' first preseason game on the field is set for August 14.
