Urban Meyer happy at Ohio State

DALLAS -- After winning his third national title, Ohio Statecoach Urban Meyer says he has no desire to coach in the NFL.

Well, for now.

Meyer spoke Tuesday morning at a news conference, the championship trophy at his side, a few hours after leading the Buckeyes (14-1) to a 42-20 win over Oregon in the College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T.

When asked whether he would ever consider moving to the pros, Meyer said: "Not right now. I've got a commitment to Ohio State and these players. I love what I'm doing. Not right now."

Meyer has a coaching record of 142-26 in stints at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State. He won two national titles at Florida and, with the victory Monday night, becomes only the second coach to win national titles at different schools. The other is Nick Saban.

In looking forward to next season, Meyer said -- in perhaps the understatement of the season --- that "we'll be very good."

Some of Ohio State's best players didn't play in Monday night's game, and many of those who did are coming back. Half of the Buckeyes' starters in the championship game were freshmen or sophomores.

Asked about the potential of Ohio State repeating as champion, Meyer smiled and said, "Tough questions, man. We just won a championship!''

Ohio State has been listed as an underdog in six games under Meyer and has won all six, beating Oregon, Alabama, Michigan State twice and Wisconsin twice, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
