Local young football players raising money to play at Nationals in Florida

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Young football players and cheerleaders from San Francisco need help raising money to go to a National Championship in Florida.

The San Francisco Junior 49ers practiced at Crocker-Amazon Playground on Sunday.

They've qualified for the American Youth Football National Championships in Florida, but still need nearly $50,000.

"We don't want to make it look like we're trying to be selfish. You know get money for them to get to Florida, but this is something that is enrichment kind of thing for the youth that you can never replace in theeir life. Something that we are giving them that will be so great, that they're able to do that, they'll remember for the rest of their life," Football Coach Kim Mitchell said.
