SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Apple announces temporary workaround for iPhone bug

Apple is working on a fix to a frustrating bug in its latest iOS 11 update. Many users found when typing the letter "I," their smartphone autocorrected to "A" with a question mark symbol.

In the meantime, Apple has a quick workaround. In the Settings of your phone, go to General -> Keyboard -> Text Replacement. Tap the plus sign (+) to add a new function. For Phrase, type an uppercase "I." Then in the Shortcut box, type in a lowercase "i." This shortcut will force the phone to use the letter "I" as it should normally.

So far, Apple has not provided a timeline for the bug fix.

Google launches restaurant wait times

Google will soon tell you just how long you'll have to wait at that popular new restaurant. The company announced today it is launching wait times on Google Search, and soon on Google Maps. Just like the company currently alerts you about busy times at the restaurant, you can decide whether an hour-long wait is worth it or better to check back in another time.

Google says the service will be available for almost a million restaurants worldwide. The company says it estimates wait times based off historical data at the business.

FDA plan to require calories on menus moves forward

The Trump administration is moving forward with a law to require calorie counts on restaurant menus. The law would also impact food served at supermarkets and convenience stores across the country. The FDA released recommendations to businesses today, despite years of pushback from the food industry.

The menu labeling rules were first championed by former First Lady Michelle Obama. They are set to go into effect May 2018
