SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Twitter is trying out a new mute feature to allow users to temporarily block messages from accounts that have become too irritating.

The mute function is being tested across Twitter's mobile apps.

The company hasn't commented directly on the new feature. But in a blog post on their site, Twitter says it is testing a number of new user experiences and the mute feature among them.
