BART resumes normal service after equipment problem in Daly City

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It was a waiting game for BART passengers Friday morning, after a track component failed at 4:45 a.m. Sparking fires between the 24th Street Mission and Daly City stations.

"First thing was, let me tell my boss I'm going to be late. Can't do anything now -- just wait," said Erikson Silva, Burlingame resident.

And wait he did, along with other passengers at the end of the line at the Millbrae station. At about 7 a.m. a train finally arrived, but people were disappointed in BART once again.

"I don't think much of them at all right now. I'm very unhappy with them," said Mary Gallagher, Burlingame resident.

At one point during the delay, BART officials were recommending people trying to get to SFO for a flight to find alternate transportation to the airport. Eventually, trains were arriving, but stress levels were high.

"I think it was 20 or 30 minutes. It's just stressful because you're trying to time everything and the next thing you know there's a BART delay. I'm like of all days of the year the BART has to be delayed on the day I'm going on vacation. It's just stressful," said Marina Ware, Concord resident.

BART will single track trains between Daly City and the 24th street stations until end of service today. They plan on making repairs overnight.
