SAN FRANCISCO -- The driver arrested in connection with a fatal collision with a female pedestrian in San Francisco's Chinatown neighborhood Saturday morning has been identified, according to a police spokesman.

Calixto Dilinila, 40, of San Francisco, was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and failing to yield to a pedestrian, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle collision near the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento streets in the vicinity of the Stockton Tunnel, Esparza said.

Emergency crews responded to the area and declared the pedestrian, described as an Asian female, dead at the scene, according to Esparza.

The Stockton Tunnel and the impacted intersection were blocked following the collision, Esparza said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the victim's identity has not been released.
