VTA fares going up in 2018, youth fares dropping

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- Get ready to pay a little more if you rely on VTA to get around in Santa Clara County. Fares are going up starting January 1.

The hike includes light rail and bus trips. VTA says adult fares are changing from $2 to $2.25. But young people will pay less.

Youth fares are dropping from $1.75 to $1 a ride. Also taking effect January 1, some VTA vehicles will be picking up passengers more frequently.
