WB 580 in Albany to be closed for hours after pedestrian killed

ALBANY, Calif. -- The eastbound 80 connector to WB 580 connector to in Albany will be closed until later Monday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed on the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m. on westbound Highway 580 near Buchanan Street. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP officials said shortly after 8 a.m. that the highway is expected to be closed for a few more hours between Central Avenue and the connector to Interstate Highway 80 while officers investigate the collision.
