Elizabeth Gallagher reflects on free 'round-the-world trip

When Jordan Axani and his girlfriend planned a trip around the world together, he had no way of knowing that the two would break up before the trip date arrived.

He also had no way of knowing that he'd be going on the trip of the lifetime with a total stranger and that their story would go viral.

Elizabeth Gallagher, a 23-year-old student, was added to the trip after Axani and his girlfriend, also named Elizabeth Gallagher, broke up.

The new Gallagher, who goes by her middle name Quinn, was chosen during Axani's search for someone whose Canadian passport bore the same name. He started that search because he didn't want the ticket to go to waste.

The two former strangers have just returned from the 3-week trip, which included cities like Milan, Paris and New Dehli. The pair said they were able to add Hong Kong to their original itinerary and have many adventures to tell. Axani wrote about their travels, from exploring temples in Hong Kong to eating pizza in Milan, on his blog.

"One of my favorite places was Prague. It was absolutely amazing," said Gallagher.

This Gallagher was one of 18 women of the same name to respond to Axani's request. The two have told the media that their relationship is platonic, as Gallagher has a boyfriend. Axani wrote on his Instagram that the two developed a "hilarious big brother & little sister dynamic."

Axani stressed that point again after the trip: "It's definitely an experience we're going to tell our respective children about," he said.

Axani was inspired by the many people who reached out but would never get to experience a trip around the world. He started A Ticket Forward, a charity to help travel dreams come true for "underprivileged and at-risk" people.
