Gas falls below $2 in some parts of the US

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Missouri is the first in five years to have its state-wide gas price drop below $2 per gallon.

AAA reports the average there today is $1.98.

It was almost $3 a gallon there this time last year.

The cost of gas across the nation has dropped 12 cents this week and 50 cents in the last month.

The national average for a gallon of gas is $2.32.

In California, the state average is $2.69. It's bit higher in the Bay Area with San Francisco costing $2.87 a gallon. Oakland's average is $2.72 and in San Jose it's $2.71.
