By road, rail or air, millions of Americans are planning on getting away for the long Memorial Day holiday.

One of the places that could prove to be trouble for travelers is San Francisco International Airport. Construction on a new safety project that will last all summer has closed two of the four runways at SFO -- cutting the number of flights that can depart and arrive every hour.

On the road, AAA estimates about 4.3 million Californians will drive 50 miles or more this weekend. That's an increase of about 2 percent over last year. AAA also estimates this weekend will have the highest volume of travel since 2005.
