The rain lingered the longest in the North Bay, but the sun finally peaked through Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the rain was not enough to make a difference during this multi-year drought. But people are saying they'll take what they can get.

It rained in the Santa Cruz Mountains and some people weren't used to driving on wet roads. But the upside made up for it for many. Residents of this dry, flammable region felt a bit more fireproof.

"All the fires going on in Northern California are just scary, so yeah I'm delighted," Joy, a Santa Cruz resident said.

In Berkeley, there was a heavy downpour.

"We're so excited it's raining," said one Berkeley resident. "We're just worries it's never going to rain again."

Early morning golfers didn't seem to mind playing on a wet course.

"My wife has this beautiful garden and we went out and celebrated this morning," Stuart Schmeck, a golfer, said. "We walked around and looked at all the happy plant."

But all considered, it was really just a drop.

Libby Pischel is with the Marin Municipal Water District.

"We had slightly less than two-tenths of an inch so that really isn't enough to have an impact on our water system," Pischel said.

Nor did it have an impact on people's lawns. Todd Rodriquez is a landscape contractor who installs drought compatible irrigation systems and he said the drought has helped his business.

"For me, it helps because if it doesn't really rain, it means I have many more days I can work," Rodriguez said.
