In the North Bay, the Russian River tells the story of full reservoirs and better than average rainfall numbers.

HEALDSBURG, Calif. (KGO) -- The storms are here again and for now, the drought is on the run.

In the North Bay, the Russian River tells the story of full reservoirs and better than average rainfall numbers.

There's more water than people around here have seen in a long time. Something else that no one in these parts have seen since the end of 2012 is a large release, upstream at Lake Mendocino.

Mike Dillabaough manages the region and dam for the Army Corps of Engineers. He says the Lake Mendocino level has surpassed water supply requirements, so by federal mandate, agencies are releasing some water to prevent local flooding.
