SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -- Officials say a plane with two people aboard has crashed into a house in Northern California near the Nevada state line.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the plane crashed in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday night.

He says the Beech 35 Bonanza had just taken off from the Lake Tahoe Airport.

The status of the two people on the plane isn't clear, but Kenitzer says no one on the ground was injured.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
