Store manager found frozen to death inside cryochamber in Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. -- An investigation is underway after a Nevada woman was found frozen inside a cryo-chamber.

The woman, identified as 24-year old Chelsea Ake, was a manager at Rejuvenice.

The cryo-chamber was turned on at minus 240 degrees Fahrenheit, and authorities say she was inside the cryo-chamber for at least 10 hours.

Firefighters say they had to crack the ice to release the woman's body from the chamber.

Records show she helped the last customer about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. The next day, an employee noticed that her car was still in the parking lot. He went inside and found her body inside the cryo-chamber.

Cryotherapy is a fairly new treatment, but athletes like Floyd Mayweather and Lebron James claim it has helped them recover from muscle soreness while giving them added strength. Rejuvenice states on its website that the freezing chambers can help with joint pain and boost metabolism.

Use of the chambers are not regulated, but experts don't recommend anyone to use them for longer than three minutes at a time.

The woman's family says it could be two months before they receive an official cause of death.
