3 teens admit to throwing rock that hurt Newark police officer

NEWARK, Calif. (KGO) -- Three teenagers in Newark are in big trouble after an apparent prank that had serious consequences.

They were arrested after police say they threw a large rock at a SWAT van. That rock shattered the window and hit the driver, who suffered a severe head injury.

In a police department photo, you can see some of the blood of the driver in the front seat.

Police say the teenagers admitted to throwing the rock and said they were sorry for hurting the officer.
