Those who got to see the first showings of the new "Star Wars" movie are walking away with good reviews.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It was an epic night for moviegoers. The first wave of Star Wars super fans here in the Bay Area lined up for hours, and days, to be among the first to see the new movie.

The first fans streaming out of the Metreon Theater in San Francisco Thursday night had rave reviews and were not disappointed.

The new "Star Wars" movie is so big that Bay Area police departments are beefing up patrols to help keep fans safe. Extra officers will be on San Mateo streets when the movie officially opens. The department made a Star Wars-themed YouTube video, reminding folks to have fun, but don't go to the darkside, and don't leave valuables in your car.
