HERCULES, Calif. (KGO) -- Police said a possible explosive device that was brought into the Hercules Police Department this afternoon was deemed safe and a shelter in place for nearby businesses has been lifted.

A citizen initially came to the Hercules Police Department at 2:58 p.m. with what he believed was a fake bomb to have it disposed of.

Officers weren't totally sure it was fake, so they told everyone to evacuate the police department and ordered people in nearby apartment complexes to shelter in place.
