The suspect was shot multiple times and a CHP officer was hurt. Police say the suspect was driving a stolen car and tried to run officers over.
The car crashed into other parked vehicles and a house on Montana street.
"It's just sad and tragic," said one neighbor.
Friends and some neighbors say there's more to the story. Monique Malcom's son is friends with the man they call, "Notorious Dickerson."
They're all very upset and don't think the shooting was justified.
"He was a sweet and nice guy," said San Francisco resident Monique Malcom. "And something needs to happen with these police shooting and killing innocent individuals just taking people's lives from them."

San Francisco police are leading the investigation. They haven't released names in the case, or said what happened right before officers opened fire.
They're also investigating what agency fired the shots. Daly City, CHP and other officers from San Mateo County were involved in the chase, that started in San Mateo and ended in San Francisco.
Both the officer and suspect survived and were taken to San Francisco General Hospital.
