Make gifts at San Francisco's 'Holiday House'

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Holiday shopping is in full swing, but in San Francisco there's one shop where you don't buy gifts, you make them.

In a little house amid the upscale shops and fluffy white dogs of Union Street, holiday presents are taking shape. Within minutes, those taking part in making gifts will have hats and scarves that didn't require sewing.

Brit Morin opened the Holiday House on December 1. Her company puts on the annual re-make conference to inspire creativity in women. "You can come in here for literally five minutes and leave with a great gift for a friend or family member," Morin said.

Thanks to sponsors like Method hand soap, just about everything is free including classes that routinely fill up.

No matter what you end up making there all the projects have something in common. They're all designed not to intimidate because the most important ingredient in any craft is confidence.

Everything's made to take less than half an hour, with simple instructions and never requires needle and thread.
