Warriors visit San Francisco Bayview students for holiday event

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Golden State Warriors paid a visit to kids in San Francisco's Bay View neighborhood during a holiday event.

For these kids meeting the Golden State Warriors was almost as good as winning the golden ticket from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

For one whole afternoon, kids from the Bayview neighborhood shot hoops, played games and made lasting memories with members of the team. "They're my favorite team in the world, so that's why I'm excited," student Lei'yan Molina said.

"It was exciting because in a real game they are so short, but in person they're tall," student Keimaree Dews said.

"Obviously it's the most fun we have with the kids. I remember when I was a kid meeting a pro athlete, it meant a lot to me," Golden State Warriors Shooting Guard Klay Thompson said.

Steph Curry and Kevin Durant welcomed kids and their smiles. For Aniyah Moore it was a moment she'll never forget. "This is my first time seeing them," student Aniyah Moore said.

Friday's event was part of the Golden State Warriors' season of giving to kids who live in underserved communities. "To see these kids having this much fun, that's what the season is all about," Golden State Warriors President Rick Welts said.

"It like means the world to me, I wouldn't miss it," student Aaliyah Madero said.
