SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Two of the California's top youth hockey teams faced off in San Jose for the state championship Sunday.

The San Jose Junior Sharks happens to be an all-girls squad. Their opponents the San Francisco Sabercats are almost entirely an all-boys team.

One of the Sharks tied it, to force overtime, and it took two overtimes for the Sabercats to win it.

"We were down, and we had 17 seconds left and I got the tip in to get the goal to go to overtime," said Cassandra Johnson, a Junior Sharks player.

"They battled back. They tied it up in the overtime, and when you lose in overtime it's pretty tough on the kids," said Mike Rathje, a coach.

Both teams received medals following the double overtime thriller.
