Palo Alto toy shop closing down after nearly 90 years in business

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A Palo Alto toy store that has been in business for nearly a century will close its doors tomorrow.

Palo Alto Sport Shop and Toy World has been serving customers since 1930.

Employees say the popularity of online shopping and the city's changing demographics are factors in their demise.

The business says Palo Alto's tech-centric economy draws younger, childless workers who don't shop as often for toys.

The store is drastically marking down its inventory, and will continue selling on its website until everything is gone.
