Evacuations lifted after major gas leak capped in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- There were some scary moments in Oakland as homes had to be evacuated because of a gas leak. It happened at 2nd and Webster near Jack London Square around 10 a.m.

Oakland police and the fire department were at the scene to help contain the leak and move people to safety. 2nd street had to be closed while PG&E managed to quickly cap the leak. People were later allowed to return to homes.
