REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (KGO) -- A woman and her dog have been found safe after a search for them in low tide near Redwood City.

The Coast Guard had to wait for fog to clear before they could search for the woman, who called them at about 6 a.m. on Thursday saying her dingy was stuck in the mud.

"We do have boaters out here and because of weather conditions and tides and their comfort level on the water ways, they go past their comfort levels and they call us to help them out and assist as necessary," Redwood City Fire Batt. Chief Nick Dickson said.

The woman was trying to get back to her 30-foot sailboat, which was stuck in the mud on Tuesday. Her cellphone had died but not before searchers were able to ping it.
