ATHERTON, Calif. (KGO) -- A Silicon Valley college is making the difficult decision to end its football program.

Menlo College board members said long travel distances and tripling costs make the football team unsustainable.

The college president says the decision will allow the school to pour more resources into the school's other 12 athletic programs.

All current football players can retain their scholarships. Some will even be offered roster spots on other teams at the school.
