CUPERTINO, Calif. (KGO) -- Cupertino based Apple is getting into the energy business. CEO Tim Cook has revealed plans to build a massive 1,300 acre solar farm in rural Monterey County.

Apple says it will generate enough power to provide electricity to the company's brand new office campus. However, solar power will also be provided to retail stores and other operations. The total cost of the solar farm project is about $850 million.
