STANFORD, Calif. (KGO) -- Stanford students, or their parents, can expect to pay more for tuition.

The university's board of trustees approved a 3.5 percent tuition increase for undergraduate students.

It is set to go into effect this fall, bringing the total for undergrad students living on campus to around $60,400 a year.

Stanford will still provide free tuition for students whose families earn under $100,000 annually.
