SACRAMENTO (KGO) -- An 11th University of California campus could be in the works.

The State Assembly Higher Education committee passed a bill Wednesday that would appropriate $50 million for land acquisition and initial building costs.

The bill's sponsor, Democrat Mike Gatto of Glendale, says California needs another campus to deal with increased student demand.

Satto's bill doesn't pick a location for the school, but he envisions it specializing in science, technology and engineering.
