Man fatally stabbed at BART plaza above 24th Street Mission station, police say

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A man has died after being stabbed at the 24th Street BART plaza in San Francisco's Mission District, BART police said Sunday afternoon.

BART officials say surveillance videos from 1:40 p.m. showed two adult men arguing near the elevator at the street level of the plaza above the 24th Street Mission station. The say one man stabbed the other near the station elevator. The stabbing victim then walked down the stairs into the station and subsequently collapsed on the platform, according to BART.

BART officials say despite attempt to aid the victim, he died from his injuries. The victims has not been identified.

Officials say the suspect fled the area. BART police are working with the San Francisco Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the suspect.

BART first tweeted at 1:53 p.m. that trains will not stop at 24th Street Mission station due to a police activity.



The station will was closed as authorities awaited the coroner's office. BART announced its reopening just after 6 p.m.
