Evacuation orders lifted after vegetation fire burns close to homes in Albany

ALBANY, Calif. (KGO) -- Firefighters put down a fire that prompted evacuations near Highway 80 in Albany Sunday afternoon.

The fire ignited vegetation at around 3 p.m. Fire fighters were deployed to the west side of Albany Hill Park.

Smoke hovered over trees bordering a residential neighborhood and several apartment complexes.

Residents of Gateview and Hillside Avenues and Taft Street were ordered to evacuate.

Crews contained the fire in about two hours.
