Rain, thunder, lightning roll through East Bay overnight during heat wave

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- An isolated thunderstorm brought rain and lightning to the East Bay early Monday after a record-breaking day of heat on Sunday.

The National Weather Service said the showers developed around midnight and moved in the north northwest direction.

Lightning could be seen from Hayward, and Berkeley, surprising many residents.





The storm then moved onto the Marin County area.



The National Weather Service said the showers would end by daybreak Monday.
