OAKLAND, Calif. -- A tent caught fire at a homeless encampment in West Oakland Thursday morning, according to fire dispatchers.

The fire was initially reported at 6:52 a.m. at two different locations, in the vicinity of Sixth and Brush streets as well as near Fifth and Filbert streets, both of which are near Interstate Highway 880.

The Oakland Fire Department dispatched two fire engines but canceled one of them after determining that there was only one fire burning in the area.

The source of ignition was determined to be a cooking fire that spread to the tent. No injuries were reported.
