Union Square Ice Skating

It may not be quite winter yet, but outdoor ice skating is back in the Bay Area. This is the 10th consecutive year of skating at San Francisco's Union Square.
To celebrate, admission and skate rentals are free all day Friday until 11 p.m. There will also be free live performances and children's activities.
Other days, rates change from $13 - $25.

Little Ice Rink opening in Alameda
In the East Bay,it's the sixth year for what's known as The Little Ice Rink, opening Friday night at Alameda South Shore Center.

Tickets are $7 - $17. Both outdoor rinks run until Jan. 15.

San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival auditions
Another favorite Bay Area tradition is the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. It's launching its 40th year this weekend. You can watch auditions for the festival at the Palace of Fine Arts theater all day Saturday and Sunday, and next weekend too. Tickets are $10. Kids 12 and under are free.

Better Beekeeping in the Bay Area with the Alameda County Beekeepers Association

Get your buzz on in Berkeley at an event called Better Beekeeping in the Bay Area.
Beekeepers of all levels are invited to learn from the experts about nurturing this critical part of our environment. The Bee Symposium is $70 but the Alameda Beekeepers Association also has free meetings once a month where you can find out if raising bees is for you.
It's a honey of a hobby.
