Bill to extend California alcohol sales until 4 a.m. closer to passing

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A bill that would allow local communities across California to extend alcohol hours past two a.m. is closer to becoming law.

An assembly committee easily approved the legislation Wednesday.

The bill, by San Francisco State Senator Scott Weiner, would extend drinking hours to 4 a.m. in bars, night clubs and restaurants, but not liquor stores. It now heads to the assembly appropriations committee.
