A home surveillance video shows a man walking late at night in a quiet Castro Valley neighborhood. Police hope he can help them solve the murder of St.John, 59, who died 12 days before Christmas.
Alameda County Sheriff's are also looking for a 2011 to 2013 Toyota Corolla seen in the neighborhood around the neighborhood around the same time.
"We're not naming this person as a suspect, but we're saying it's a person of interest," said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "Maybe a witness or someone we need to alleviate as being involved in the case."
St. John was a widow, a mother and a grandmother. She was found dead inside the garage of her Grove Way home, which had been set on fire the night of Dec. 13.
An autopsy revealed that St.John was murdered before the fire.
Neighbors tell ABC7 News they haven't been able to rest easy in the weeks since St. John's murder and they won't until police make an arrest.
"I'm deathly afraid every day," said Frani Erwen, who can see St.John's gutted home from her front porch, almost directly across the street. "It's definitely a hard time for everybody. I used to see more people out. I don't see anyone anymore, everybody's locked in their homes."
